If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium is a 1969 American film directed by Mel Stuart and starring Suzanne Pleshette, Ian McShane, and Mildred Natwick. The film satires packaged tours that many Americans take when they vacation in Europe. As they tourists hustle through nine countries in eighteen days, they are wooed by charming tour guide Charlie Cartwright. Charlie, an Englishman, has been leading these tours for quite a while, and uses them to visit the many casual girlfriends he has throughout Europe. On this particular trip, however, young American girl Samantha (Pleshette) is too beautiful for Charlie to resist. After a briefing courtship, she casually tosses him aside for lack of maturity. Various other quirky characters populate the tourist bus, and Charlie deftly and humorously finds a way to control them all as drive at a breakneck pace through the most famous of Europe's destinations. Based on a magazine cartoon and a CBS documentary special, If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium received moderate reviews from critics.moreless
