In Bruges is a 2008 black comedy starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, and Ralph Fiennes in a story about three deadly hitmen who find themselves caught in a dangerous web of mixed loyalties while trying to lay low in the scenic Belgian city of Bruges. Farrell plays Ray, a young hitman who has recently taken and botched his first mission. While on an assignment, Ray accidentally shoots and kills a child. Ray's boss, Harry (Fiennes), orders Ray and his instructor, Ken (Gleeson), to hide in Bruges and await further instructions. As Ray deals with his intense guilt over his actions, Ken weighs his loyalty to his boss against his affection for his pupil. Clemence Poesy co-stars as Chloe, a local drug dealer who develops a relationship with Ray while the conflicted hitman considers his options. In Bruges is a darkly funny film with intense action, written and directed by Martin McDonagh.
