In Her Skin is a thriller from Australia based on the true story of a teenage girl who went missing in 1999. Filmmaker Simone North writes and directs this film, which opens in Melbourne, Australia, where Rachel Barber (Kate Bell) is walking with her neighbor and ex-babysitter, Caroline (Ruth Bradley). Her overweight neighbor has always admired Rachel from afar, and Caroline believes that she is the perfect girl with a perfect life. The next day, Rachel doesn't come home from work, which sends her parents Mr. and Mrs. Barber (Guy Pearce and Miranda Otto) into a panic. They report their missing child to the police, who brush them off and ask them to wait for her to come home. A few days pass, and Rachel is still missing. The Barbers go public, and the entire community gets involved. Caroline volunteers to help in the search, and the Barbers start to uncover their perfect daughter's hidden secrets. Their investigation leads to Rachel's boyfriend Manni (Khan Chittenden), who doesn't have an alibi on the day of his girlfriend's disappearance. All fingers start to point to him until Mrs. Barber finds a shrine of her daughter inside Caroline's room.moreless
