In Love and War is a moving drama set during the Second World War. Three Marines are preparing for deployment into the Pacific theater of combat, and must choose how to spend their final moments on American soil. Frankie O'Neill (Robert Wagner) pays a visit to his family but their dysfunction leads him to drink. Nico Kantaylis (Jeffrey Hunter) spends the night with his pregnant fianc''e; by morning, the two are wed. Alan Newcombe (Bradford Dillman) visits his wealthy girlfriend and ends their stormy relationship. Weeks later, the men reflect on these choices and ponder their very uncertain futures. After a horrifying and bloody battle in which many Marines lose their lives, the friends learn an important lesson about seizing each precious moment left in their lives. Although it is a war film, the focus of In Love and War is not the gruesome reality of battle, but the ways in which human lives are affected by the outcome of such conflicts.moreless
