In Search of Dracula, first produced under the title Vem Var Dracula, is a documentary which studies vampires and exposes the Dracula legend from a historical perspective. Christopher Lee, who gained notoriety for playing Dracula, narrates the documentary. The film was based on a book, by the same title, in which Romanian scholars Radu Florescu and Raymond McNally went in search of the historical roots of Dracula. It was originally filmed and aired as a short TV special, but later released as a feature length film in 1975. The film begins its search for Dracula with stories of Vlad the Impaler, and then traces it up through the centuries to 1970. It explains not only the basic concept of Dracula, but individual rumors like why he sometimes appeared as black cat or a bat. The film contains reenactment scenes, film footage from other Dracula films, brief interviews, analysis of early paintings and more to look at the legend from every angle.moreless
