Rating:

Infamous is a 2006 biographical film about the eccentric life and works of Truman Capote. The film delves into the people and experiences which surrounded the creation of his most popular work - his novel In Cold Blood. Although Infamous was released just one year after Capote, a biopic starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, it received just as much success and critical acclaim. The film was written and directed by Douglas McGrath who undoubtedly drew inspiration from a novel by George Plimpton called Capote: In Which Various Friends, Enemies, Acquaintances and Detractors Recall His Turbulent Career. Infamous follows Capote (Toby Jones) as he travels to a lonesome town in Kansas and investigates the murders of the Clutter family. His research leads him to two convicted murderers - Perry Smith (Daniel Craig) and Richard Hickock (Lee Pace). Capote delves into twisted thoughts as he interviews each convict. During this time he surprisingly falls for Smith who picks up on Capote's advances and reciprocates aggressively. Toby Jones gives an amazing performance as Capote. A less-glitzy alternative to Capote, Infamous is a definite must-see!moreless

Less a parable of literary ethics than a showcase of literary personality, and it is in the end more touching than troubling.
