Inside Moves is a 1980 ensemble drama about Roary (John Savage), a man who becomes partially disabled after a failed suicide attempt in the opening scenes of the film. It follows his struggle to piece his life back together with the help of the denizens of Max's Bar, a local hangout for the disabled. The bar regulars include the wheelchair bound Blue Lewis (Bill Henderson), Wings (Harold Russell), a double amputee with hooks for hands, and Stinky (Bert Ramsen), who is blind. The youngest regular at Max's is Jerry (David Morse), a talented basketball player who needs an operation for his bum leg. Roary and Jerry become best friends but the relationship breaks down when Roary decides to invest his savings into the money-losing bar rather than help Jerry get his needed operation. Jerry retreats to his drug-addled girlfriend Anne (Amy Wright), a prostitute who turns tricks to support her habit. Inside Moves was directed by Richard Donner, from a screenplay by Barry Levinson and Valerie Curtin.moreless
