Interiors is a dark 1978 family drama from writer-director Woody Allen. After decades of marriage, Arthur (E. G. Marshall) asks his wife, Eve (Geraldine Page), for a divorce in front of their grown daughters, Renata (Diane Keaton) and Joey (Mary Beth Hurt). Arthur explains that he wants to live life on his own terms after serving the needs of the family. The fragile Eve hopes for reconciliation until Arthur announces his intention to marry the lively Pearl (Maureen Stapleton). As their typically polished mother, an interior designer, begins to fall apart, her daughters try to provide support, but find their own personal lives in trouble. Renata, an acclaimed poet, tires of her husband Frederick's (Richard Jordan) complaints about his own writerly frustrations. Joey cannot seem to make a deeper relationship with her boyfriend, Mike (Sam Waterston). The youngest daugher, Flyn (Kristin Griffith), arrives from Hollywood, and must fend off a relentless pass from Frederick. Allen's first dramatic film explores the messy relationships within a seemingly perfect family.moreless
