Intermission is a comedy film that takes place in Ireland. It weaves several plotlines together into one final narration. It begins with bottomfeeder criminal Lehiff (Colin Farrell), who has yet to commit a crime where he actually gets away clean. Detective Jerry Lynch (Colm Meaney) constantly pursues him and makes a point of giving Lehiff trouble even when he's done nothing to deserve it. Jerry does everything in his power to present himself as a savior of the city, on a mission to hunt down scumbags like Lehiff and put them behind bars. He hires Ben Campion (Tomas O'Suilleabhain), a radical filmmaker, in an attempt to further promote his public image with a documentary. Ben's boss believes that Jerry is too extreme for the show and instructs him to focus on Sally (Shirley Henderson), a young woman who helps the victims of a large bus crash. Sally is reluctant to accept all the attention because she is extremely insecure. These people's lives begin to steadily intertwine in romance and drama, creating a thick plot filled with double-crossings and lies.moreless
