International Velvet is the sequel to the 1945 classic National Velvet. In this coming-of-age story, an orphan, Sarah Brown (Tatem O'Neal), is sent to England to live with her Aunt Velvet (Nanette Newman) and Uncle John (Christopher Plummer), after her parents are killed in a car accident. While at Velvet's home, Sarah develops an interest in horses and raises a colt that was sired by Velvet's horse, Pie. Sarah names her horse Arizona Pie based on her home state. With the support of Velvet and John, Sarah becomes a brilliant horsewoman. Sarah makes the Olympic team and with the help of Captain Johnson (Anthony Hopkins), Sarah becomes a real champion. She qualifies to compete in the Olympic Three Day event where she helps the team win for Britain. Sarah shows that she is truly grown up when she falls for a boy who is an American competitor in the Olympics. This is a fun, heart-warming tale the family will enjoy!
