Intolerable Cruelty is a comedy directed by the Coen brothers in which a scheming lawyer finds he can't haggle his way past a woman's intuition. Miles Massey (George Clooney) is an extraordinary Los Angeles lawyer who has it made. He's got an intimidating record of wins and only serves an exclusive and wealthy clientele. He's even created a prenuptial agreement that is iron-clad, one that is now named after him. The life he has dreamed of turns out to be a bore. Meanwhile Marilyn Rexroth (Catherine Zeta-Jones) has gathered enough evidence through a private detective to file for a lucrative divorce from her cheating husband, Rex (Edward Herrmann). Rex is a real estate broker and, to her mind, deserves to get cleaned out. Marilyn and Miles collide when Miles agrees to represent Rex. Despite Marilyn's apparently solid case, Miles is undefeatable. The battle pits two devious minds against one another in a winner take all fight.moreless
