Irina Palm is an independent 2007 drama that premiered to great acclaim at the Berlin International Film Festival. When her beloved grandson Olly (Corey Burke) falls seriously ill and must be taken to Australia to receive treatment, 50-year old Maggie (Marianne Faithful) goes back into the job market to drum up some funds. She finds employers are less than eager to hire women her age. Though frustrated by initial disappointments, fortune smirks her way when she is offered a job as a "hostess" at a sex club. The owner, Miklos (Miki Manjovi'') explains that being a hostess involves more than just greeting customers. Maggie becomes the shop's most sought-after hostess, reaping in surprising amounts of money and self-esteem. But with all the money coming in, people are going to start asking questions, including her son Tom (Kevin Bishop). How long can she continue to help little Olly while keeping her profession a dirty little secret?
