It Could Happen to You is a 1994 romantic comedy starring Nicolas Cage and Bridget Fonda based on a true story. New York police officer Charlie Lang (Nicolas Cage) has a kind heart and a difficult, money-obsessed wife, Muriel (Rosie Perez). When eating a local diner, Charlie realizes he doesn't have enough money to tip his waitress, Yvonne (Bridget Fonda). Instead, he offers her half the winnings of the lottery ticket. Yvonne has had a bad run of luck lately with unpaid debts and a bothersome ex-husband, Eddie (Stanley Tucci). When Charlie's ticket actually hits the jackpot, he intends to follow through on his promise by splitting the $4 million prize. Muriel, of course, does not agree and leaves him, but also wants to ensure that she keeps every penny. Once the media catches wind of the story, Yvonne and Charlie find themselves thrown together and finding something more valuable than money.
