It Should Happen to You is a refreshing 1954 romantic comedy starring Judy Holliday and John Lemmon in what would be his first Hollywood film. The movie was written by Garson Kanin and directed by George Cukor (Gone With the Wind, My Fair Lady). It Should Happen to You centers around Gladys Glover (Judy Holliday), a young, fanciful woman who moves to the big apple and tries to make it big as an actress/model. A starving artist, she decides to spend her last $1,000 dollars on a billboard featuring her face. Fortunately, Gladys's last effort at fame proves successful - it is not long before she is contacted by several agents for work. She becomes particularly illuminated when a wealthy man sweeps her off her feet and promises her a very rewarding career in the industry, so long as she dates him. But her boyfriend Pete (Jack Lemmon) sees things from a bigger perspective and tells her the only thing she is accomplishing is sexual objectification. The film will transport you to the Hollywood culture of the 1950's while keeping a modern tone. It Should Happen to You is a classic you don't want to miss!moreless
