2011
Rating:

Box-office superstar Leonardo DiCaprio joins forces with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Clint Eastwood in this unyielding biopic that explores the public and private life of one of the most powerful, controversial and enigmatic figures of the 20th century. As the face of law enforcement in America for almost fifty years, J. Edgar Hoover was feared and admired, reviled and revered. But behind closed doors, he held secrets that would have destroyed his image, his career and his life. With a career steeped in scandal and a controversial private life, the legendary director of the FBI retained his post as keeper of the country's secrets (and many of his own) until his death in 1972. With a screenplay by Dustin Lance Black (Milk), the film also stars Academy Award nominee Naomi Watts (21 Grams), Oscar winner Judi Dench (Shakespeare in Love), Armie Hammer (The Social Network) and Josh Lucas (Life as We Know It).
