Jack the Giant Killer is a 1962 American fantasy film by director Nathan H. Juran, loosely based on the traditional fairytale of the same name. In the film, the power-hungry Sorcerer Pendragon (Torin Thatcher) uses magic to create a giant to abduct Princess Elaine (Judi Meredith). Jack (Kerwin Mathew) is a simple farmer boy with a brave heart, who slays the giant and rescues Princess Elaine. King Mark is, of course, very grateful to the lad and makes him Princess Elaine's protector, to escort her to a safe convent overseas. That is easier said then done, because Sorcerer Pendragon learns of the plan and starts to formulate his own plans to intercept, and kidnap, the Princess on her journey. Somehow, in between meeting leprechauns, being cast overboard, and slaying dragons and giants, Jack starts to fall in love with Princess Elaine. Will he ultimately defeat Sorcerer Pendragon and get the chance to live happily ever after with the princess? Jack the Giant Killer has plenty of adventure and humor for the whole family.moreless
