Jackie Brown is a 1997 blaxploitation crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. Pam Grier stars as Jackie Brown, a down-on-her-luck flight attendant. Jackie Brown works closely with Ordell Robbie (Samuel L. Jackson), a gangster under surveillance by the ATF. Jackie Brown uses her flight attendant job to run money from Mexico to the United States for Ordell. One of Ordell's other employees named Beaumont Livingston (Chris Tucker) has been picked up by two detectives and spills the beans on Ordell's operation. Jackie Brown is soon arrested at the airport and Ordell posts her bail through bondsman Max Cherry (Robert Forster). Jackie works out a plan with Ordell to pretend to work with the cops, but smuggle enough money for him to retire. Ordell hires Louis Gara (Robert De Niro), Melanie Ralston (Bridget Fonda), and Sheronda (Lisa Gay Hamilton) to help execute the smuggle. Alliances are not how they seem, however, and double crosses run rampant during the proposed crime. Jackie Brown gained much critical acclaim, earning a nomination for best supporting actor for Robert Forster at the Academy Awards.

But for all its enthusiasm, this film isn't sharp enough to afford all the time it wastes on small talk, long drives, trips to the mall and favorite songs played on car radios.
