Movie Summary

Adam Marcus
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday is an American 1993 horror slasher film and is the ninth installment of the Friday the 13th series. Jason Voorhees is back! Surprised? Of course not, that's what he does and, not to ruin anything else for you, but people will be killed in this movie. Why does he keep coming back? They finally address that after 8 movies. Turns out only a member of Jason's family can kill him for good, anyone else who kills him will just make him angrier. Enter sweet innocent Jessica, she is Jason's half niece and let's just say her Mom would do it if Jason hadn't gotten to her first with a knife sharpener. Jessica will need the help of a special skull dagger to put an end to this once and not for all, remember we still have "Jason X" and "Freddie vs. Jason". Can she temporary stop Jason for a few years?! Find out, in this slasher classic ('s eighth sequel).moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 50

    San Francisco Chronicle Mick LaSalle

After a promising opening, with Jason on a rampage and a cold, peculiar bounty hunter (Steven Williams) on Jason's trail, Jason Goes to Hell switches focus midway to the young coup...

  • 25

    Miami Herald Rene Rodriguez

It's as stupid, unimaginative and cheesy as the rest of them. [16 Aug 1993, p.C2]

  • 25

    The Seattle Times

One might have hoped for some semblance of vitality and ingenuity in this, Jason's ninth and final solo killing spree, but it's a retread to its rotten core. [14 Aug 1993, p.C3]
