Movie Summary

Jayne Mayfield Collection: The Girl Can't Help It is about a gangster who will stop at nothing to turn his girlfriend into a star. With the help of his colleague and press agent Tom Miller (Tom Ewell), mobster Marty Murdock (Edmund O'Brien) does a very good job of getting his girlfriend into the limelight. There is a misunderstanding, however, as the life of fame and fortune may not be what she wants in the long run. The film transcends genres as it is part comedy, part romance, and part fantasy. The film parodies the bright and flashy, retro aspects of the fifties but does so in a very entertaining manner. This is a funny and enjoyable film that is great for its entertainment value. It does not have any deep seated meaning or message. Jayne Mayfield Collection: The Girl Can't Help It was released in 2006 and directed by Frank Tashlin.
