Jeremiah: The Bible is a 1998 episode from the popular "The Bible" series of Bible based movies. It tells the story of the Hebrew prophet Jeremiah (Patrick Dempsey). A young member of a priestly family led by his father Chelkia (Michael Cronin), Jeremiah must choose between his plans for a normal life and his faith when God asks him to deliver a warning to King Sedecia (Vincent Rogan) of Jerusalem: if the king does not forsake idol worship, disaster will strike the city. Meanwhile, he plans to wed his young love Judith (Leonor Varela). When God's warning goes unheeded and Jeremiah's prophecies are scorned in his hometown, the Babylonians descend upon the city, taking Jeremiah in chains to Babylon to serve in the court of King Nebuchadnezzar II (Klaus Maria Brandeur). Oliver Reed of "Gladiator" fame appears as the stubborn General Safan. Features a dramatic reconstruction of Solomon's Temple and a fast paced plot.
