Jesse James vs The Daltons is a 1954 western directed by William Castle. In the film, Joe Branch (Brett King) has heard all of the rumors that say he is the son of the legendary Jesse James. Wanting to know the truth once and for all, Joe starts out on a search for the truth. Joe heads to Coffeyville, Kansas, where he thinks that he will be finally be able to get some answers. Upon entering the town, he sees a young woman, Kate Manning (Barbara Lawrence), about to be lynched by the community. Kate is accused of murdering a man, but she claims that it was only in self-defense. Joe is able to save her, but at the expense of making some of the townsmen angry. Not having much success on locating information about his dad, Joe decides that he could learn the best information from the Dalton Boys and devises a plan to get their attention. He decides to rob a train of all its valuables before the Dalton boys have a chance. Will they be able to help him find the truth about his father or will the Daltons stay angry over the loss of their loot?moreless
