Jesus of Montreal is a Canadian movie released in 1989. Daniel (Lothaire Bluteau) is an actor who is putting together a production of a Passion Play. The group comes together and begins to trust each other more as they get closer to the production. They decide to interpret the Bible in their own ways, which raises the ire of the Roman Catholic church. Their controversial production, however, becomes very popular in their town. The story of Daniel is parallel to that of Jesus Christ, who he is portraying in the play within the film. Jesus of Montreal also stars Catherine Wilkening, Johanne-Marie Tremblay, and R'my Girard.
