Alice Parker (Rhonda Fleming) arrives at a remote trading post in the Amazon run by Rio Galdez (Fernando Lamas) and populated by American and European rejects. She is looking for her fianc'', Jerry Russell (Richard Denning), an ex-engineer who promised her she'd be arriving at a lush Brazilian plantation. Instead, she finds that Jerry has disappeared and overhears rumors of his alcoholism and that he's taken up with a local woman, Maora (Rita Morena). Rio informs her that Jerry became obsessed with locating the legendary Jivaro headhunters' gold and disappeared into the jungle in search of fortune. Rio and Alice trek into the Jungle in search of the lost lover. The two quickly find themselves deep in the heart of headhunter country, with danger potentially lurking behind every tree. And, before long, Alice finds herself wondering why she's spending time searching for her drunken, two-timing fianc'', when romance might be waiting for her in another direction.moreless
