John Carpenter's Vampires features James Woods as Jack Crow, the leader of a Vatican-sponsored vampire hunting team. After a successful vampire hunt, Crow and his team celebrate at a local motel with plenty of booze and prostitutes. However, the team had missed one vampire: Master Vampire Valek (Thomas Ian Griffith). Valek shows up at the party and massacres everyone. Crow and the sole team survivor, Montoya (Daniel Baldwin), manage to escape the massacre and rescue Valek's hostage, a young prostitute named Katrina (Sheryl Lee) who was bitten by Valek. Lee's transformation into a vampire gives her a telepathic link to Valek, aiding Crow and Montoya in tracking Valek down. The three soon learn from the Vatican that Valek is searching for an artifact that would allow him to walk in daylight, granting him omnipotent powers. Crow and Montoya now must work against time to stop Valek's plans into reality to stop the oncoming onslaught.
