John Ford Goes to War chronicles the Tinseltown filmmaker during what is arguably his greatest artistic feat: his live documentation of morale, heroism, and loss during World War II. Directed by Tom Thurman and narrated by Kris Kirstofferson, the film illustrates the events which lead John Ford to leave his comfortable repose in Hollywood and enter the chaos at the frontlines. Ford, who is most notably known for films such as Stagecoach, The Grapes of Wrath, and How Green Was My Valley, captures men on the battlefield during their most intimate moments as they face the inevitability of death.
