Interviews with her family, her friends, her ex-husbands, and Joni Mitchell herself are all featured prominently in this filmic portrait of her youth, her ascension to fame, and Joni in recent years. Beginning with her childhood in Saskatchewan, the film then chronicles her life in the 60's, splitting time between Greenwich Village and Laurel Canyon. In her later years, Joni discusses the daughter she left behind when she was 19 years old, as well as the experience of missing Woodstock. Featured songs include Both Sides Now, I Had a King, My Old Man, Blue, River, Coyote, Hejira, Wild Things Run Fast, Come in From the Cold, and Circle. Woman of Heart and Mind was very well received critically, and has been featured on PBS numerous times to high ratings.
