Rating:

Joshua is a modern day parable about a young man that wanders into a small town in the south and begins doing good deeds. When a stranger named Joshua (Tony Goldwyn) appears in their small southern town, the people of Auburn are intrigued and cautious. But when the roof of the barn he uses for his home suddenly stops leaking, they are downright bewildered. Joshua has a profound effect on those all around him, and seems capable of miraculous feats, like carrying a 500 pound log all through town. He begins to rebuild the local Baptist church, and while some townspeople and religious figures are both helpful and enthusiastic about his presence, others, like Father Tardone (F. Murray Abraham) are more wary, fearing the outsider is out to assemble a cult. In a portrait of what Jesus Christ might be like if he came back in modern times, Joshua continues on his righteous path, asking for nothing but good to be done. Jon Purdy directs this light hearted and good natured adaptation of Joseph F. Girzone's novel of the same name.moreless
