Jubal is a tale of passion and betrayal set in the American West. Jubal Troop (Glenn Ford) is a mysterious man found near death out on the range by good-hearted cattle rancher Shep Horgan (Ernest Borgnine). Shep brings Jubal back to his home, nurses him back to health, and gives him a job as his foreman. This delights Shep's unfaithful wife Mae (Valerie French) and greatly angers "Pinky" Pinkum (Rod Steiger), the cruel ranch hand who is having an affair with Mae. Mae dumps Pinky and sets her sights on Jubal, who is not interested because of his devotion to his boss. Besides, he is falling in love with Naomi Hoktor (Felicia Farr), a virtuous young woman who is part of a traveling religious group that has camped out near Shep's property. Soon, Mae's poison tongue and Pinky's vendetta against Jubal come to a head when Shep confronts Jubal over Mae's infidelity, wrongly thinking that Jubal has slept with her.
