Jubilee Trail is a 1954 film about two brother, Charles (Ray Middleton) and Oliver Hale (John Russell). Charles, a California land tycoon, creates a plan to marry off his brother to a wealthy Spanish ranching family. Oliver does in fact marry this woman named Manuela (Nina Varela). However, Oliver loves another woman named Garnet (Joan Leslie) and ends up also marrying her in New York. The couple then decides to move out west to California via wagon train, meeting many other struggling pioneers bound for the west. They suffer alongside the others from hot weather and a lack of food and water. Along their trip, Garnet learns that Oliver already married another woman. This destroys their relationship leaving Garnet to fend for herself, as well as her soon-to-arrive child with Oliver. Manuela ends up committing suicide, and a battle enrages between her father, Don Rafael (Martin Garralaga), and Oliver. In essence, Charles created the problems with Oliver, Garnet, and Manuela. Joseph Kane directs this adventure comedy western that leaves some dead and others heartbroken.moreless
