Jude is a 1996 drama about the tortured love affair between two cousins. He marries a common woman named Arabella (Rachel Griffiths), but she leaves him once it becomes apparent that Jude does not really love her. Intent on getting ahead, Jude journeys to London where he encounters his cousin, Sue Bridehead (Kate Winslet). The attraction between the two is instant, but she chooses to marry a more financially stable man named Phillotson (Liam Cunningham) instead. Their mutual attraction continues and Sue eventually leaves her husband to take up with Jude. Though they remain unmarried, Jude and Sue decide to raise a family together, a situation which constantly brings scandal into their lives.
