Julia is a 2008 crime drama directed by Erick Zonca. In the film, Julia (Tilda Swinton) is a chain-smoking, vulgar, promiscuous drunk, who has recently lost her real estate job and is close to going broke. Her ex-boyfriend, Mitch (Saul Rubinek), who is also an ex-alcoholic, finally gets her to go to an AA meeting. Mitch's hope is that Julia can start to put her life together the way he did. Unfortunately, at the AA meeting, Julia's life starts to spin out of control. While at the meeting, Julia meets a Mexican woman, Elena (Kate del Castilo), who tells Julia her life goal is to abduct her son from his wealthy grandfather. Eventually, she asks for Julia's help. Feeling like she has nothing to lose, Julia agrees to abduct Tom (Aidan Gould), Elena's son, but only if she does it alone. It doesn't take long for Julia to determine she is in big trouble; Elena failed to mention that her father-in-law's wealth comes from Mexican drug trafficking.moreless
