Movie Summary

Director:
Jason Reitman
Released:
2007
Rating:
PG-13
Juno is a 2007 American comedy drama film by director Jason Reitman, starring Ellen Page and Michael Cera in a career-defining blockbuster for both of the young actors. Ellen Page is Juno MacGuff, a sixteen-year-old Minessota high school student with a big problem: she is pregnant with the child of her dorky friend, Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera). From debating the option of abortion, to finally settling on adoption, Juno's life becomes a rollercoaster of emotions and worries that teenagers shouldn't have to, but all too often do, deal with. From teen romance, to unexpected consequences, to unusual family dynamics, Juno tackles many weighty subjects beyond just teen pregnancy. Unlike one might imagine with a film dealing with such sensitive themes, Juno does not suffer from overly-serious screenwriting or lack of humor. Juno was a huge success, winning many awards and many more award nominations, as well as securing spots on several critics' 'best of 2007' movie lists.
