Just Between Friends is a drama which was written and directed by Allan Burns and released in 1986. The film follows the life of Holly Davis (Mary Tyler Moore), a house wife and mother leading a perfectly ordinary, suburban, life. Sandy Dunlap (Christine Lahti) is a brassy and confident news reporter working current events for a local TV station. Despite their differences, the two women strike up a fast friendship after Sandy interviews Holly's husband Chip (Ted Danson) after a local earthquake. When Chip is unexpectedly killed in a car accident, Holly leans on Sandy and Chip's best friend, Harry Crandall (Sam Waterston), as she struggles to cope with the loss of her husband. It is not until she goes to Chip's office and clears off his desk that she learns Chip and Sandy's terrible secret. Holly is left to decide when to forgive, when to forget and when to move on.
