K2 is a 1991 American film directed by Franc Roddam and starring Michael Biehn, Matt Craven, and Annie Grindlay. Based on the true story of two friends' ascent of K2, the second highest mountain on Earth, the film chronicles the story of Taylor Brooks and Harold Jameson, two businessmen who climb mountains together on weekends. On a particular expedition they encounter Philip Claiborne, an eccentric billionaire who is testing out equipment for an expedition to an undisclosed location in the Himalayas. Philip and his team ignore Harold's warnings of an impending avalanche, and two of their members are killed. The rest might have lost their lives as well if not for Harold and Taylor's quick thinking. With an incomplete climbing team, Taylor and Harold then join Philip's crew and fly to Karakoram to being the ascent. Members of the crew begin leaving the expedition and eventually only four are left. After an initial disappointment regarding their chance of making it to the top, Harold and Taylor then risk their lives and discover their true potential.moreless
