Kansas City Confidential is a 1952 movie in the film-noir genre, directed by Phil Karlson. Joe Rolf (John Payne), an ex-con, tries to make an honest living in Kansas City. As a driver for a florist, Joe imagines that the rest of his life will be safe and peaceful. To his shock, however, someone out there has other plans for him. When four mysterious robbers assault an armored truck and escape with over one million dollars, Joe turns out to be one of the prime suspects. Knowing he cannot return to his former life of crime, Joe fights for his innocence. To reclaim his peaceful life, Joe sets out on the trail of the real robbers, ready to serve the justice that he found lacking in his own life. Along the way he meets beautiful and mysterious Helen (Coleen Gray) and sparks fly between the two. Joe winds up in Mexico, slowly uncovering a criminal plot that is more complicated and dark than he expected.
