Khamoshi is a 1996 Indian musical directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It won multiple Filmfare and Star Screen Awards the year it was released. Joseph (Nana Patekar) and Flavy Braganza (Seema Biswas) are a married couple living in Goa who are both deaf and mute. He sells soap door to door to support them. When Flavy finds out she is pregnant, they both worry their child will be born with the same handicaps they have, but their daughter Annie is born with the ability to both speak and hear. Flavy becomes pregnant again and gives birth to a son named Sam, who is also fully capable of speech and hearing. Annie grows up loving music because of her grandmother Maria (Helen) and dreams of having a career in the music industry. A tragic accident takes Sam from the family, however, leaving Joseph unable to work and Annie unable to enjoy music anymore. Years later, Annie finds herself back in the world of music when she meets Raj (Salman Khan). She falls in love with him and gets pregnant, which is distressing to her family because they are devout Catholics. When tragedy strikes the family yet again, they must learn to reconcile their differences and pull together for Annie's sake.moreless
