Killer:A Journal of Murder is a movie that brings you the story of Carl Panzram (James Woods). Carl is a death-row inmate who is sent to Leavenworth Penitentiary in Kansas. After his arrival, it becomes clear to Carl that he is disliked by the prison staff. One of the guards beats Carl regularly. A new prison guard, named Henry Lesser (Robert Sean Leonard), sees how Carl is being treated and begins to feel sorry for him. He even attempts to convince the other guards that Henry has potential and is not as bad as they make him out to be. Henry and Carl become friends and Carl begins to confide in him. One day, he talks him into creating a journal of his past. After reading Carl's journal, Henry begins to realize that he may be even worse than the staff had thought. A Journal of Murder was released in 1996 and is written and directed by Tim Metcalfe.
