Kim is a 1984 family adventure film directed by John Howard Davies and based on a novel by Rudyard Kipling. Young Kim (Ravi Sheth) is a 15-year-old orphan who has never really known his family. He lives on the streets of India, making a living for himself thanks to his plucky and courageous spirit. Kim actually has a secret past: he was born into a British family, although now he passes as a local. He encounters plenty of interesting characters, including Lama (Peter O'Toole), a Tibetan holy man, and Mahbub Ali (Bryan Brown), a horse dealer from Afghanistan. However, it turns out that Mahbub Ali is not who he says he is. He is a British spy, and on discovering that Kim has British heritage, he sends the boy off to a British college. Fortunately for Kim, he is able to study to become a spy just like his friend. A member of the English secret service (John Rhys Davies) trains young Kim, but once the orphan is ready to carry out missions, he finds himself torn between the land of his birth and the land he calls home.moreless
