2005
Rating:
PG-13
King Kong is the 2005 blockbuster remake of the 1933 fantasy adventure classic, brought to life this time around by superstar director Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lovely Bones) with a bevy of unbelievable visual effects by Weta Digital. The story follows the framework of the original religiously, embellishing certain subplots along the way, giving them further weight and dimension. Carl Denham (Jack Black, School of Rock) is a reckless, safari picture filmmaker whose latest opus threatens to bankrupt the studio: taking his entire crew on a wild goose chase to an uncharted island in the East Indies where is said to exist a lost civilization lorded over by a monstrous beast hitherto unseen by any civilized person. But Denham needs a pretty face to entice audiences with, so he convinces starving actress Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) to be his star and accompany them on their long sea voyage. But little does Ann know she's about to cross over water and meet the biggest person in her life ' a giant silverback gorilla named Kong who kidnaps her to make her his queen!moreless
