King Kung Fu is a 1976 raucous, action-filled comedy that mixes martial arts with the classic King Kong motif. A remote monastery in China has somehow managed to train a gorilla (John Ballee) to fight in many of the ancient styles. In a fit of rage, the ape one day attacks his kung fu master and defeats him. The monastery reels in shame and ships the gorilla to America as a gift. He arrives in Wichita, Kansas, where he's put on display in a sort of travelling zoo and carnival. He is billed as "King Kung Fu," and he's expected to show off his skills to the curious onlookers. Again in an outburst, the gorilla breaks out of jail and sets out on the loose in the Kansas cornfields. The police set out on his tail and chase him to the top of the tallest building in the city, the Holiday Inn. A final showdown will test the strength of the primate's kung fu.moreless
