King Lear is the television adaptation of the famous Shakespearian play starring James Earl Jones. The story is a family drama of a king who divides his family out of a greed for their affections. King Lear (James Earl Jones) realizes that his time left on earth is short, so he plans to divide his kingdom between his three daughters. However, he promises the largest share to the daughter who can prove that she loves him best. Two of them make an admirable appeal, Goneril (Rosalind Cash) and Regan (Ellen Holly). The third, Cordelia (Lee Chamberlin), however, claims that she can't put her love into words. The King is so disappointed that he disowns her and divides the kingdom between the other two. The three families continue to bicker and backstab in a spiralling conflict. Edmund (Raul Julia), an illegitimate son of an Earl, attempts to stir up a fight between the two heiresses in a way that may undermine the kingdom.moreless
