Kiss Me Goodbye

Movie Summary

Director:
Robert Mulligan
Released:
1982
Rating:
PG

Kiss Me Goodbye provides a rare romantic romp for adults, with a supernatural twist. Oscar winner Sally Field ("Norma Rae") plays Kay, a widow who finds herself unexpectedly caught in a love triangle with her dynamic but deceased husband Jolly (James Caan, The Godfather) and her nerdy fianc''e Rupert (a very young Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart). When Kay returns after three years to the home she shared with Jolly, she finds his ghost has never left. Jolly wants to save her from a dull, ordinary life as a scientist's wife by breaking up the couple. Of course, no one can see Jolly but Kay and even Rupert begins to question her sanity. Director Robert Mulligan, of To Kill a Mockingbird fame, blends a charming farce out of romantic complications, mixed with lots of comic silliness and broad strokes of heartfelt emotion in this 1982 film about leaving the past behind.
