Kitchen Stories is a 2003 comedic drama directed by Bent Hamer. Based on actual events, the film follows Folke Nilsson (Tomas Norstr''m), a Swedish researcher in the 1950s who finds himself carrying out a somewhat unusual study. As part of ongoing research about the efficency of kitchen use, a research institute decides to observe the private lives of Swedish bachelors as closely as possible. Folke must go to the home of Isak (Joachim Calmeyer), a bachelor in Landstad, and quietly watch and document Isak's typical kitchen use. Although Folke is not supposed to interact with Isak in any way and Isak is supposed to pretend that he is alone in his house, it soon becomes clear that the study will be difficult for both men. Isak decides to turn the tables and start observing the researcher through a hole in the wall. Despite the strangeness of the situation, something like friendship begins to burgeon between the two men. When Folke's boss (Reine Brynolfsson) and Isak's friend (Bj''rn Floberg) begin to complicate the scenario, however, it is not clear whether the friendship can last.moreless
