Knowing is an American sci-fi film made in 2009 by Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, Rose Byrne, Chandler Canterbury and Lara Robinson. The film begins in a grammar school set in 1959. Kids are burying a time capsule full of letters and pictures to be opened and read in 50 years. However not everyone makes a cute letter, one girl puts in an eerie page of seemingly random numbers. Flash forward 50 years to 2009 where John Koestler (Cage) attends the capsules opening at the school his son Caleb (Canterbury). They stumble upon the numbers and become puzzled by the mystery of its significance. John begins to see something in the numbers, something shocking. They are a perfect match to every human tragedy, signifying the date, number of casualties, and geographical coordinates of each event. Three remain until the end. Can he prevent them? And what happens when they stop, could this be the end of the world?
