La Cage Aux Folles II follows the famously gay Renato (Ugo Tognazzi) and Albin (Michel Serrault) as they find themselves in yet another pickle in this follow up to the first film, La Cage Aux Folles. Renato, a prominent nightclub owner, and his main attraction, Albin the Queen of Drag inadvertently become entangled in a ring of criminal activity. Unbeknownst to him, Albin has gotten his hands on a stolen piece of microfilm, and now a gang of international crooks are after the couple. Renato and Albin flee to Renato's parent's house in a frenzy, where they hide from a group of menacing killers. However, things get even more convoluted when some of the farm boys make a pass at the ultra-feminine Albin. The film was released in 1980, two years after the first was made. It is based on a play by Jean Poiret and directed by Edouard Molinaro, who also directed the original. The film is reminiscent of The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.
