Lady and the Monster is the dark and gloomy tale of a billionaire, eager to beat the surly bonds of death and stay alive at the hands of mad science. Before his death, the man bestowed scientist Prof. Franz Mueller (Erich Von Stroheim) with the task of keeping him alive, no matter what. The Professor places the dead man's brain into a glass bin, keeping his mind alive, though his body rots. Professor Mueller has two lab helpers, Janice Farrell (Vera Hruba Ralston) and Dr. Patrick Cory (Richard Arlen). The brain, realizing that it has telepathic powers, begins to gain control over Dr. Cory, forcing him to do terrible things to help further the cause of the mad and newly dead billionaire. As the story goes on, it dawns on Farrell that she is the only one who has the power to stop the brain, and the lady is forced to confront the monster.
