Lady In A Cage is a 1964 dramatic horror film directed by Walter Grauman. Mrs. Cornelia Hilyard (Olivia de Havilland) loves her sumptuous home. The mansion has three stories and is located in the middle of a city, creating a private retreat for the widowed poet. Lately, while she recovers from a hip injury, Mrs. Hilyard has made great use of the home's elevator. During Independence Day weekend, Mrs. Hilyard's son Malcolm (William Swan) has left for a brief vacation. An electrical failure causes the elevator to grind to a halt, stuck 12 feet above the ground floor. The problem is that its occupant is still inside. Too fragile to jump, Mrs. Hilyard becomes increasingly desperate to escape her strange prison. Her cries for help attract a parade of unsavory characters, including derelict George (Jeff Corey), Sade (Ann Sothern), a prostitute, and three wild and ruthless teenage thugs. Randall (James Caan), Essie (Rafael Campos) and Elaine (Jennifer Billingsley) proceed to wreak havoc in Mrs. Hilyard's beautiful home, while she is trapped and unable to do anything but watch. The widow will have to figure out a way to free herself from the cage and take control of the situation.moreless
