Ladybugs is a wacky 1992 soccer comedy from journeyman filmmaker Sidney J. Furie (Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, The Entity, Iron Eagle, Iron Eagle II, The Ipcress File). Bucking for a promotion at work, Chester Lee (Rodney Dangerfield, Back to School, Caddyshack, Meet Wally Sparks) brags about his soccer prowess; so, his boss assigns him coach for The Ladybugs, an inept girls soccer team. Chester knows little about soccer, and less about coaching the team; so, he persuades girlfriend's sporting son Matthew (Jonathan Brandis, The Neverending Story II, Stephen King's It, Stephfather II, SeaQuest 2032) to join the team, in drag. Donning a wig to become Martha, Matthew becomes the team's star girl player. How long can this deception last? Former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda appears in a funny cameo as 'Coach Canoli.' Final screen appearance for actress Nancy Parsons (Porky's, Motel Hell) a Shirley Stoler lookalike, that usually played obnoxious, ugly, fat women. This time it's as an opposing soccer coach.
