Ladyhawke is a 1985 fantasy adventure film directed by Richard Donner. Set in 12th century Europe, the film begins with the escape of a thief named Philippe Gaston, "The Mouse" (Matthew Broderick), from the dungeons of Aquila. Hunted by the Bishop of Aquila's (John Wood) men, Gaston receives help from a mysterious black knight, Captain, Etienne of Navarre (Rutger Hauer), who travels with a dazzling hawk. Navarre informs Gaston that he has saved him from execution so he can help him navigate the tunnels back to Aquila to kill the Bishop. Soon after, on their way back to Aquila, Gaston discovers that Navarre's hawk becomes Isabeau d'Anjou (Michelle Pfeiffer) by day and Navarre transforms into a black wolf at night. Cursed by the Bishop of Aquila, Navarre and d'Anjou are destined to be always together but eternally apart. Now, with Gaston's help, the two lovers must find a way to break the curse or forever be apart.

This is a movie which captures your imagination in the classic manner, as have others such as Casablanca. It tells of a terrible curse, and of a disparate group of people which become involved in reaching a solution to this curse. Each of the characters are winning portrayals, even that of the evil bishop! Watch it!
