Movie Summary

Brad Silberling
Land of the Lost is a 2009 comedy directed by Brad Siberling. After the scientific community rejects him due to his weird time warp theories, Dr. Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell) finds himself relegated to the lowly status of a museum worker. Student Holly Cantrell (Anna Friel) is inspired by Rick's ideas, so she comes to him with a strange fossilized imprint of a cigarette lighter that came from Devil's Cave. Rick then uses his old blueprints to create a time travel machine called a tachyon amplifier, and the two head to the cave. When Rick activates his amplifier, Rick, Holly and tour guide Will Stanton (Danny McBride) fall through a hole in time and end up in an alternate universe. They are in a place where dinosaurs, ape-men and other strange creatures roam freely, and the tachyon amplifier is gone. Soon, the trio learns that an evil race of lizard people called the Sleestaks are trying to retrieve the time machine for an evil purpose. With a friendly primate named Chaka (Jorma Taccone) along for the ride, Rick, Holly and Will go through a series of hilarious hijinks to find the amplifier before the Sleestaks can use it in their diabolical plan.moreless
